Hurghada

Hurghada

A once isolated and modest fishing village connected with the Red Sea in Egypt, Hurghada (or Al Ghardaka as it is called in Arabic), is now a sprawling resort town that is home to nearly 35,000 people.
It is an Egyptian town with a diversity missing from the airbrushed resort atmosphere of Sharme-El-Sheik.
If you want to enjoy the crystal clear water of the Red Sea, the sun and the beach, then Hurghada is the place to be.
Orientation
The town is split into 3 main areas:

  • Dahar, the old town, where almost all the budget accommodation, shops and restaurants are located
  • Sigala, the new and more tourist town, is separated from Dahar by a sandy mountain called Gebel-al-Afish. This is where Hurghada is at its liveliest and where you can find the best restaurants, bars and disco’s for anyone’s budget.
  • This is also where you can find the ferry to Sharm-el-Sheikh.
  • The new Sigala, where you can stroll along the luxury boulevards and where you can find a mixture of Egyptian and European shops.
